Positive People
Positive People is a Non-Government Organisation,
working in the field of HIV / AIDS in Goa since May, 1992.
It was founded by the first HIV activist in Goa, the late Mr
Dominic D'Souza. Besides being committed to the cause of HIV
infected persons, it also looks in to the prevention and control
of HIV / AIDS in Goa.
Focus Areas
* Promotion of self-care of HIV / AIDS affected persons, promotion
of HIV / AIDS related scientific research and education, and
the enhancement of the quality of health of all individuals.
* To promote and disseminate through appropriate educational means
and strategies, qualitative and informative sessions on STDs,
HIV/AIDS and reproductive health education, non-discriminatory attitudes
and positive life styles.
* To advocate the issues of HIV / AIDS and the rights of PLHIV
particularly with regard to access to public health care and employment,
so as to reduce discrimination and stigmatization.
* To set up and sustain self-help groups. Maintain a directory
of health care professionals willing to provide care and medical
treatment to PLHIV / AIDS.

The Sangath Society for Child Development
&
Family Guidance
The Sangath Society's main objective is Child Development
& Learning Disability Program.
This entails that the organisation has to provide a comprehensive
care program and conduct research in developmental, behavioural
and emotional problems affecting children & young people, including
providing support to families, training teachers and health workers
and raising awareness with policy makers and in the community.
Their peripheral programs include Adolescent & Family Health
Program, which provides a service for adolescent and family
health, with a focus on family violence and adolescent mental and
sexual health and Psychosocial & Public Health Program, which
aims to become the centre of excellence in research in the field
of mental health with a focus on women’s mental health, community
mental health and mental health in general health care settings.
They are also dealing with 'Partnerships for Development
Program', becoming a resource centre for training, networking
and documentation in the fields of child development, adolescent
and family health and mental health.

Goa Research Institute for Women
Its a forum for inquiry and research. Its scope is inter-disciplinary;
and though it defines its essential focus as the profile of women
in Goa, it does so within a larger national and global framework.

Mathruchhaya Trust Dhavali
Mathruchayya is a an orphanage exclusively designed to take care
of neglected children.
These children are raised successfully and left to face the world
at a later stage, as constructive citizens, contributing something
to the world. Starting from just one-year-olds, up to 20-year-olds
are taken of. The NGO is headed by Prathibha D Joshi, with four
staff members under her.
Donations in the form of stitching materials, educational items,
toys are welcome. You can contribute in either cash or in kind.

National Institute of Oceanography conducts research in the Lakshadweep
