Tips on buying a pet Dog
Pet shops, clinics and reputed kennels are the best places to buy
a dog. Because they take good care before selling them to you.
Avoid buying from a dealer who sells a hundred varieties.
The chances of litters being mixed are more.
Make a trip to the kennel. If it smells bad, does not look
clean, pets look unhealthy then move fast to another kennel.
Find out if your kennel gives you the exchange offer, just in case
you change your mind or a need arises. Take a vet to inspect the
pup before making a decision to buy.
Check the body condition of the puppy. Often a thick coat
may camouflage an under nourished pup.
Part the hair of the dog and look for signs of irritation
behind the ears and elbows. Small deposits of ash like dirt indicate
presence of fleas.

AIR TRAVEL WITH PETS
Planning on taking your pet on a vacation with you? Or moving to
another city?
The trip can be quite stressful for the pet. Some guide lines on
how to manage:
Making Reservations on the flight
Make a booking for the pet as soon as possible, because airlines
allow only a limited number of animals on each flight.
Remember to get specific information on charges, as flying with
your pet can be quite costly.
A Suitable Kennel
The pet will need a sturdy kennel. Choose one with adequate ventilation,
preferably one that comes with an airline approved packaging.
If
the pet is not accustomed to being in a kennel, then do not make
the air trip his first experience. Prepare the pet to sleep inside
the kennel at least two weeks before the travel. It will help the
pet to get adjusted to the smell and area of its enclosure.
Medical approval
Get a health certificate and a vaccination booklet from your vet,
at least ten days before the flight. Many of the vaccinations have
validity dates, so check to make sure that they are correct. Ask
some advice from the vet regarding tranquilisation of the pet.
The day of the travel
Give the pet a brisk walk, it will help him expend some of his
energy, so that he can rest during the trip.
Give the pet a light meal at least three hours before the flight.
Do not put any liquids inside the kennel.
Attach a sheet of paper having details about the name of the pet,
your flight number, destination, your name, address and phone number
to the kennel.
