How to travel
when in Goa
Goa offers various means of transportation for the tourist - Starting
from buses to motorbikes, mopeds, cycles, taxis & car rental,
motorcycle taxis & autorickshaws, ferries, trains and even cruises.
Transport within Goa:
Self Drive / Chauffeur driven cars
A chauffeur driven car or a self drive car can be hired both within
the city (Panaji) and within the state.
Taxis: Yellow-top taxis are available at the rate of Rs
7.00 per kilometer or part thereof or at point-to-point fares fixed
by the Directorate of Transport, displayed on the taxis.
Autorickshaws: Available at the rate of Rs 7.00 for the
first kilometer, which is the minimum fare, plus Rs 3.75 for every
subsequent kilometer travelled or part thereof.
Additional Charges for tourist taxis, yellow top taxis and autorickshaws:
a) Return journey charges: Applies only to a one-way journey
beyond Municipal limits, at the rate of 50% over the normal fare.
b) Luggage charges: Rs 3.00 and Re 1.00 per package, for
taxis and autorickshaws respectively.
c) Detention charges: Rs 12.00 and Rs 6.00 per hour or Rs
2.00 and Re 1.00 for every 10 minutes for taxis and autorickshaws
respectively.
d) Complaints: All complaints may be sent to the nearest
police station or to the office of the Directorate of Transport.

Motor Cycle Taxis:
The concept of motor cycle taxis is probably very unique to Goa.
These motor bikes are available almost everywhere in Goa, and can
be identified by their Yellow Mudguards and white number plates.
Cost - Rs 4.00 for the first one Kilometer and Rs 2.00 for every
subsequent kilometer travelled.
Local Bus Services:
a) These are operated by the Kadamba Transport Corporation and
Private Operators at regular intervals, connecting all places in
the state. Given below are the rates: (rounded off to the nearest
5 paise)
For the first 4 kms is a minimum of Rs 2.00 and for every other
subsequent kilometer thereof is Re 0.25.
b) Beyond the radius of Panaji, the fare on Luxury Carriage buses
doubles.
c) For City Buses: Minimum fare for the first kilometre is Rs 2.00
and Re 0.30 for every additional kilometer travelled.
