The State will play host to its second Google conference being hosted by the Goa Google Technology User Group at Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) – Pilani, Goa Campus.
The conference, to be held on Sunday, January 22, will mainly be attended by application developers (app developers) and will see the visit of two Googlers – Gunjan Sharma and Shraddha Gupta, who will deal with the latest trends of authorisation in the ever changing Internet web and also in Google App scripts.
App developers are computer programmers who write scripts of code based on which web programmes, websites and other extensions, plug-ins, etc run.
Speaking to Herald, one of the organisers Vaibhav Joshi says that it is a matter of great pride that Google has chosen its second conference to be held in Goa.
"After an overwhelming response to a GTUG (Google Technology User’s Group) event in late 2010, Google will return to Goa, this time in association with the annual technical festival "Quark 2012" of the BITS Pilani KK Birla Goa Campus. Google claims it has identified Goa as a market deserving of its prime attention, and sees the students of the region as bright prospects of the future of the company," Joshi said.
Goa State GTUG is a Goa-based open group who use/test, learn, share and contribute to Google Developer Technologies everything from Android and App Engine platforms, etc. It aims to conduct regular meetings to discuss/ share ideas, knowledge, network and experiences among the group and enjoy the company of fellow developers.
The GTUG was started in Goa by one Shashank Todwal who realised that there is a high necessity and that Goa should feature in the map of big companies like Google, Mozilla, Yahoo, etc when he attended Google Devfest, International Python Conference and couple of seminars in Google Office while he was in Singapore doing his summer internship.
The students and developers in Goa will be updated with latest Open Source technologies and exposed to resources of this international community. This will help make Goa a special place for Google Inc and other big technology giants, which will be beneficial for all colleges in Goa in terms of placements and internships.
